A search is continuing to fill the top position at the Kansas City, Kansas, Board of Public Utilities.
According to David Mehlhaff, chief communications officer with the BPU, four candidates for general manager have been interviewed, but the board has not yet made a decision.
Current General Manager Don Gray, who has been at the BPU more than 40 years, will help the new general manager make a smooth transition, Mehlhaff said. Gray is expected to retire as the transition is made. Gray has been the general manager since 2006, and prior to that, he was the BPU manager of water operations.
The BPU board has met in closed, executive sessions to discuss the appointment. So far, two external and two internal candidates have been interviewed, Mehlhaff said.
