Scrap metal catches fire on South 26th

Kansas City, Kansas, firefighters battled a three-story pile of scrap metal that caught on fire on Saturday morning in the 800 block of South 26th Street.

According to a Fire Department spokesman, crews were on the scene with excavators that assisted with removing metal as the fire was extinguished.

There were no injuries, the spokesman stated. At this time there is no estimate of damage, and the cause is unknown, according to the spokesman.
