Wyandotte Daily has learned that Schlagle boys basketball coach Prentes Potts has been hired as the new head coach at Leavenworth High School, which will be announced this afternoon.

Potts has been with the Stallions for two seasons, coaching them twice to the 5A state tournament, including the finals in 2016-2017. Potts was previously head coach at Turner High School and an assistant coach at Avila University.

Potts is also a business teacher at Washington High School, and will be leaving that post for a full-time teaching position at Leavenworth High School.

Leavenworth Superintendent of Schools Mike Roth said, “Coach Potts brought a high amount of energy to his interview, and distinguished himself through the selection process by his preparation and sharing of his philosophy on how his military service positively impacts his teaching and coaching abilities.”
