The Central Avenue Betterment Association sponsored its first Central Avenue Day of the Dead Parade on Saturday evening.
The parade route ran from 6th Street and Central Avenue west to 16th Street. Approximately 20 vehicles took part in the parade.
Crowds of booths and families lined both sides of Central Avenue near the end of the route, and singers performed on stages.
Parade participants as well as many spectators celebrated the Mexican heritage of the Day of the Dead with the colorful and haunting pageantry characteristic of the day.
