Scattered thunderstorms will be possible late morning through this afternoon in the region, according to the National Weather Service. Severe weather is not expected.
Today’s high could be in the mid-80s, the weather service said. Storms currently have moved east of the Kansas City area. Temperatures were 80 degrees at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Hot and humid conditions will affect the area starting Wednesday and continuing through the end of the week, the weather service said.
On Thursday and Friday, the heat index could approach 105 to 110 degrees, according to the weather service.
Today, Independence Day, there will be a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 4 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 86 with an east wind of 7 to 10 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is planned.

Sunday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 88 and an east southeast wind of 5 to 7 mph, the weather service said.

Monday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., with a high near 90, and a calm wind, the weather service said.
