Democrat, Republican caucuses to be Saturday
Democrats and Republicans have scheduled caucuses for Saturday, March 5, at different locations. Presidential candidates will be selected.
Republicans in Wyandotte County will meet beginning at 9 a.m. at Open Door Baptist Church, 3033 N. 103rd Terrace, Kansas City, Kan. Voting time will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Voters must be registered Republicans by Feb. 4, and must have photo identification.
Democrats will arrive between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at three caucus sites in Wyandotte County, depending on their state Senate district. Anyone arriving after 3 p.m. will not be able to participate in the caucus process, which starts around 3:30 p.m. The Democratic caucus locations are Senate District 4, KCKCC-TEC Center, (old Walmart building), 65th and State Avenue; Senate District 5, Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, 9301 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kan.; Senate District 6, new Turner High School, 2211 S. 55th St. Voters may register to vote as Democrats at the caucus.

Opening day of fishing to be Saturday
The opening day of fishing is Saturday, March 5, at Wyandotte County Lake, 91st and Leavenworth Road. Gates open for fishing at 6 a.m. This year the Leavenworth Road Association will be serving biscuits and sausage gravy at Davis Hall at the lake park.
Serving will be from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The biscuits and gravy breakfast with sausage, hash browns and drink will be $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Townsend plans information session Saturday morning
First District Unified Government Commissioner Gayle Townsend plans an information session from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Neighborhood Resource Center, 4953 State Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Those attending will hear presentations about the emergency home repair fund program; full- and part-time employment opportunities with Parks and Recreation; new economic development incentive program for small businesses; and new code enforcement reporting program.

Marble Crazy continues in Bonner Springs
The 16th annual Marble Crazy continues on Saturday at the Moon Marble Co., 600 E. Front St., Bonner Springs, Kan. At this event, the public may watch how marbles are made, see contemporary art glass-making, view a marble machine, and visit and buy glass art directly from the artists. Learn sewing and quilting at the library
Sewing and quilting for beginners or for those who want to learn more will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 5, at the West Wyandotte Library, Kansas City, Kan., Public Library, children’s craft room, 1737 N. 82nd, Kansas City, Kan. The class is for adults, and for those ages 10 and older. There is a limit of 15. Advance registration is requested to the library, 913-596-5800. Those who register get priority.

Red Cross blood drive scheduled

Auto show continues
The Buick LaCrosse and te Chevrolet Malibu, made in Kansas City, Kan., are on display at this year’s Kansas City Auto Show at Bartle Hall in Kansas City, Mo. The show features more than 500 new cars, trucks, sport utility vehicles and minivans. The show continues from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday; and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Spanish singing lessons offered
The South Branch of the Kansas City, Kan., Public Library is offering Spanish singing lessons for children from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5. The group will meet in Room B at the library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kan.

Children’s craft program offered
Children from 4 to 12 years old may participate in a Mini-Mason Jar Easter Chick craft program from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Main Kansas City, Kan., Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Magic show planned
A magic show for all ages will be offered from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the South Branch of the Kansas City, Kan., Public Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kan. All ages may attend. It will be in Meeting Room A.

Roller derby opens tonight in KCK

The Kansas City Roller Warriors will open their 2016 season on Saturday, March 5, with a new home at Memorial Hall, 600 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kan. Bishop Ward students to perform ‘Into the Woods’
The student musical, “Into the Woods Jr.,” will be performed at the Willard L. Phillips Memorial Auditorium at Bishop Ward High School, 708 N. 18th St., at 7 p.m. on March 5. “Almost Maine” will be presented by Kansas City Kansas Community College students at 7:30 p.m. March 5 at the KCKCC Performing Arts Center, 7250 State Ave. There is also a matinee performance at 2:30 p.m. March 6.
