Blue Devil Fun Run to be Saturday

Marble Day planned May 2
The ninth annual Marble Day Celebration is planned 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 2 in Bonner Springs. A marble tournament, the running of the pinkys, and a parade are part of the day’s events. For more information visit http://marbleday.com/.

Village Green Kansas Monitoring event planned
A ribbon-cutting for an innovative solar and wind-powered air-monitoring system designed and incorporated into a park bench will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at the South Branch Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kan. The event will be followed by the All Things Air Community Fair from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

DAR to meet May 2
The Wyandot Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 10 a.m. May 2 at the Lone Star Steakhouse, 1501 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kan. The guest speaker will be Elizabeth Kelloff and one other member of the Capt. Jesse Leavenworth DAR. The meeting topic will be the enactment of an 1850 interview with Caty Sage. Caty was kidnapped from her family in Elk Creek, Va., at 5 years old and grew up to become a Wyandot Indian queen. After 62 years she found a bloodline brother at the Wyandot Reservation, (then) Leavenworth County, Kan., according to the book, “The Legend of Caty Sage” by Ellie Kirby.

Polski Day to be May 2
Polski Day, a parade and festival, will be held May 2 at All Saints Church, 8th and Vermont, Kansas City, Kan. A parade begins at 11 a.m. at 14th and Central, with the festival from 11:30 to 7 p.m. at the All Saints grounds. A 4 p.m. Polka Mass is part of the celebration. Tractor Cruise planned May 2 at Ag Hall
The Greater Kansas City Two Cylinder Club plans a Tractor Cruise to benefit the Ag Hall, Bonner Springs. Tractors will drive around Wyandotte County, stopping at places such as Wyandotte County Lake and Grinter House, as part of the tractor cruise. Sunflower State regatta planned May 2
The Sunflower State regatta, a rowing contest between the University of Kansas women and Kansas State University women, will be held from 11 a.m. to noon May 2 at Wyandotte County Lake, 91st and Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, Kan.

Extension master gardeners plant sale continues Saturday
The Wyandotte County Extension Master Gardeners plant sale will continue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday May 2. The plant sale is at the Extension Office, Wildcat Room, 1200 N. 79th St., Kansas City, Kan. Vegetable plants, berry plants, flowers, ornamental grasses and miscellaneous items about gardening will be in the plant sale.
