Cabin Fever Festival planned Feb. 7
Kids need to blow off some steam? – Tired of the winter weather? Living Water United Methodist Church, 3001 N. 115th St., will hold its annual Cabin Fever Carnival. Free basketball camp planned Feb. 7
A free basketball camp is planned from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Bethany Recreation Center, 1120 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan. The free Jr. NBA camp is sponsored by Sumner Academy and the Kansas City, Kan., Parks and Recreation Department. It is for boys and girls in second through seventh grades. Black History Banquet to be Feb. 7
The guest speaker at this year’s Black History Banquet will be Reginald Robinson, professor and director of the School of Public Affairs and Administration at the University of Kansas. The 23rd annual Black History and Scholarship Banquet will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Reardon Convention Center, 500 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan. The Unified Government Black history Committee is the host of the event. Tickets are $40 per person or $400 for a table of 10. Library plans introductory class on computers
The Main Kansas City, Kan., Public Library will hold a two-hour class from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 7 on getting comfortable with computers. The class will talk about the parts of a computer, how to move a mouse and how to start a program. Call 913-551-3280 to register. Artist reception planned Feb. 7
An artist reception for Berneice Williams, a local painter, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 7 at the West Wyandotte Library, Fine Arts Gallery, 1737 N. 82nd, Kansas City, Kan.
Chocolate Festival planned at Main Library
A Chocolate Festival is planned for teens and tweens from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Main Kansas City, Kan., Public Library, 625 Minnesota, Kansas City, Kan. Those attending will learn about chocolate, its history, play chocolate trivia and sample various kinds of chocolate. The event is in the youth services storytime-craft room.

Staff from the Community Health Council of Wyandotte County will help with open enrollment for health insurance from 1 to 5 p.m. Feb. 7 at the South Branch Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Study Room 2. There will be assistance in Burmese early, and assistance in Spanish later.

A benefit Boy Scout Chili Supper is planned from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 2907 N. 81st. Proceeds benefit camp expenses.
Wyandotte County Museum features World War I exhibit
The Wyandotte County Historical Society and Museum, 635 N. 126th, Bonner Springs, Kan., will feature a historical exhibit about the local effect of World War I, “Local Poppies: Centennial of World War I.” The exhibit will include information Wyandotte County service members, war memorabilia, propaganda posters and local memorials from Wyandotte County.
