Historic character portrayal on Saturday at Grinter Place museum
A trader will be portrayed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Grinter Place Museum, South 78th and K-32 in Kansas City, Kansas. Donald Wade Davis will portray a trader in the time that Moses and Annie Grinter operated their trading post, from 1855 to 1860, at Grinter Place. Turner library and rec center plan pet adoption fair
A pet adoption fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the outdoor practice field, outside the Turner Library and rec center at 831 S. 55th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Those attending may speak with experts and guests about pets, learn about pet insurance, healhy diet tips and chipping. Some rescue dogs or cats will be available for adoption. The event is for all ages. Persons who attend are asked to leave their pets at home.

Family story time planned
Family story time is planned from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 11, at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, youth services craft room, 625 Minnesota Ave. The program is geared to children ages 2 to 6. Benefit taco fundraiser planned
A taco fundraiser on behalf of Robert Grado Jr.’s kidney transplant will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, at Holy Name School, 1007 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Kansas. Tickets will be $6 for three tacos and rice.
