Mobile mammograms available at the South Library
The South Branch Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, will be the site of mobile mammograms from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 2. The library is joining with the Susan G. Komen organization to provide free mammograms to the public. The public may schedule ahead to 913-344-9989 or walk in. It will be first-come, first-served. The free mammograms are for uninsured women over 40. Insured women may submit a claim through their medical insurance for these procedures.
African-American book club to meet
The African-American book club, Infinite Shades of Brown, will meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The book being discussed is “Breakfast in Bed” by Rochelle Alers.
Children’s painting program offered
The “Paint the Pages” program from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 2, will feature a story about a snowman, then children will paint a picture inspired by the book. The program will be at the South Branch Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. For other library programs, visit www.kckpl.org.
KCKCC women scheduled to play rival today for opportunity to advance to championship
The Kansas City Kansas Community College women’s basketball team is scheduled to play Johnson County Community College at 4 p.m. March 2 at KCKCC fieldhouse. Mardi Gras dinner planned
Blessed Sacrament Family Center, 2215 Parallel, Kansas City, Kansas, will be the site of a Mardi Gras dinner from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2. The dinner will be seafood gumbo or jambalaya, red beans and rice. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Bingo is planned. Proceeds will benefit Our Lady and St. Rose parish.
