Student scholarship program scheduled
KC Scholars will present a community outreach session about an upcoming scholarship application from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the West Wyandotte Library auditorium, 1737 N. 82nd St., Kansas City, Kansas.
Family story time planned
Family story time is planned from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Reading stories, dancing and singing are planned. The program is geared for readers ages 2 to 6.
S.T.E.M. Saturday program planned
The S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Saturday program will focus on weaving and how it makes things stronger. The program will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Craft Room of the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The materials science behind weaving, a discussion of how weaving is involved in the design of suspension bridges and the science behind Kevlar vests are planned. Participants will make a kente cloth craft. The program is geared to children and teens.
Book club to discuss ‘Black Fortunes’
The African American Book Club, Infinite Shades of Brown, will discuss the novel, “Black Fortunes,” by Shomari Wills at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, first floor program room, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. This program is for adults.
Painting program planned
Children participating in a Paint the Pages program from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the South Branch Library, storytime room, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, will read a story and then paint a picture inspired by the book. The topic will be penguins. The program is designed for children.
