Live eagle viewing scheduled today at Kaw Point Park
Live eagle viewing is scheduled between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Kaw Point Park, 1401 Fairfax, Kansas City, Kansas. Sponsored by the Friends of Kaw Point Park, this event will include hosted outdoor viewing stations. Spotters will be at the park. In addition, there will be a wienie roast and hot cider provided in a warming hut. Kaw Point Park, near I-70 and Fairfax Trafficway, is at the confluence of the Missouri and Kansas rivers in Kansas City, Kansas. A large number of eagles are currently nesting along the Kaw, and are seeking the fish found in the river.
KCK school board to meet Saturday
The Kansas City, Kansas, Board of Education is scheduled to meet at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in the third floor board room of the Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools Central Office and Training Center, 2010 N. 59th St., Kansas City, Kansas. A closed, executive session, has been planned to discuss the investigation of a complaint about a non-elected individual, and to receive an update on a human resources audit to protect the privacy interests of the individuals to be discussed. Also, the board is scheduled Saturday to begin work on the 2019-2020 budget and to discuss the annual board self-evaluation, measures taken to address concerns heard at the board listening tours and alternative education program. Teens, parents may attend program on college scholarships
Teens and parents may attend a program about college scholarships and FAFSA, a financial aid form, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the first floor computer training room, Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave. There are only a limited number of seats available. Library to hold Spanish singing lessons
The South Branch Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, will hold Spanish singing lessons from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in Conference Room B. The program is for children. The facilitator is Sandra Zamora.
High school students to present play
The All City High School Musical Theatre Troupe will present “Bye Bye Birdie” at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Performing Arts Center, Kansas City Kansas Community College. The group, consisting of high school students from five Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools, is sponsored by the Kansas Academy of Theatrical Arts. The musical is open to the public. There is no admission charge, and a freewill donation will be accepted at the door.
