Free flu shots, coats and turkeys to be given away on Saturday
Mercy and Truth Medical Mission expects large crowds at their Inagural “Warm Up Wyandotte” event, the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Mercy and Truth will be giving away 200 free turkeys, 200 free flu shots and more than 400 free coats at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Mercy and Truth located at 721 N. 31st St. in Kansas City, Kansas.

Democrats to meet Saturday, Nov. 17
Speakers at the Wyandotte County Third Saturday Democratic Breakfast will be former State Rep. Bill Reardon and State Rep. Pam Curtis, D-32nd Dist. They will discuss the results of the Nov. 6 general election. Former Rep. Bill Reardon was in the Kansas Legislature for 30 years, from 1974 through 2004. Rep. Curtis has been a state representative for five years, and is a past staff member for the late Mayor Jack Reardon, former Gov. John Carlin and former Mayor Joe Reardon. The breakfast meeting will begin with a buffet at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Las Islas Marias, 7516 State Ave. The program will begin at 9 a.m. The cost of the buffet is $10, or $6 for students and those on limited incomes. Those attending are asked to RSVP to [email protected]. While sending in the RSVP is not required, it is encouraged. Those attending do not need to purchase a breakfast. The meeting is open to all Democrats.

Eisenhower holiday craft show to be Nov. 17
The Eisenhower Christmas craft show will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Eisenhower Recreation Center, 2901 N. 72nd, Kansas City, Kansas.

Church to hold annual craft fair
St. Patrick Catholic Church will hold its annual Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in the parish center at 94th and State Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas. Crafters will display handmade items. Snacks will be available for purchase.

Church to hold Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale
Edwardsville Christian Church, 110 N. 4th St., Edwardsville, will hold a Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17. There will be Christmas decorations, craft items, jewelry, baked goods and homemade candies at the event. Recycling to be topic of craft program
Recycling and reducing will be the topic for a program from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Library, 4051 West Drive, at Wyandotte County Lake Park, 91st and Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, Kansas. Those attending will make something to take home, learning to give a new purpose to formerly discarded objects. The craft program is for all ages.

Church plans turkey bingo
All Saints Catholic parish has scheduled turkey bingo at 5 p.m. Nov. 17 at the parish hall, 809 Vermont Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. For $10, those attending will receive a bingo card, as well as a Polish sausage and kraut sandwich, with a drink. After the dinner at 5 p.m., bingo will begin at 6 p.m.

Legends lighting ceremony to be Saturday
The 14th annual Legends Outlets tree lighting ceremony will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17. The lighting ceremony will be in the courtyard of the shopping center at I-70 and I-435 in Kansas City, Kansas. The 45-foot holiday tree at the Civic Courtyard Fountain, in front of the AMC Legends 14 movie theater, will feature LED-lighted snowflakes. The lights are animated and will work in time with music played at the event. The tree lighting event also includes appearances by Santa Claus, live holiday music, prize giveaways, children’s activities, free refreshments and photos with Santa.
