‘Souls to the Polls’ event planned Saturday
A “Souls to the Polls” event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the New Bethel Church, 745 Walker Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Those attending should bring their identification cards or driver’s licenses to vote. A “Souls to the Polls” event also will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 9301 Parallel Parkway. The event will include a potluck dinner.

Early voting taking place

Strawberry Hill Museum reopens for holidays
The Strawberry Hill Museum, 720 N. 4th St., Kansas City, Kansas, reopens for the holidays on Saturday, Nov. 3. The museum is decorated for an “Olde World Christmas.: Tours are held at noon and 4:15 p.m. and Sundays. The tea room is open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The museum is open only on the weekends, except for special tours. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 6 to 12. Zoo animals come to the library on Saturday
Exotic animals will visit the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. It will be in the café area. This program is free and open to all ages.

Library offers Day of the Dead program
The West Wyandotte Library is sponsoring a Day of the Dead program from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in the library auditorium at 1737 N. 82nd St., Kansas City, Kansas. Crafts, treats and food will be provided, as well as educational information about Dia de los Muertos. The movie, “Coco,” will be shown at 2:30 p.m. The event is for all ages. Day of the Dead celebration and parade on Central Avenue
The Day of the Dead celebration begins at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, on Central Avenue, and ends with a parade at 6 p.m. from 6th to 16th Street on Central Avenue. The event is coordinated by the Central Avenue Betterment Association. There is no admission charge, and refreshments will be available for purchase. Fundraising event for MLM
Metro Lutheran Ministry will hold the “Power of Each One” fundraising event at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Overland Park Convention Center, 6000 College Blvd., Overland Park. The fundraiser will support the MLM food pantries, permanent supportive housing, minor home repair, employment support services and the MLM Christmas Store. The event also will include a farewell to retiring Executive Director Jim Glynn and a welcome to MLM’s new executive director, Scott Cooper. Reservations are required.
