Turner Days to be Saturday and Sunday
Turner Days will begin with a 5k run at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, and will include a parade at 10 a.m. on South 55th Street, from Douglas to Inland. The festival will follow until 5 p.m. Saturday. Craft booths, vendors, entertainment and food will be available. The festival continues on Sunday, with a car show. Mud volleyball competitions will be held on both days. There is no admission charge to Turner Days. There are fees for some of the activities, such as the 5k run, and for concessions. Turner Days will be held rain or shine. Lineman’s Rodeo to be Saturday at Ag Hall
The 35th annual International Lineman’s Rodeo will be held Saturday at the Natonal AgriculturalCenter and Hall of Fame, 126th and State, Bonner Springs. Linemen from the Board of Public Utilities plan to compete against hundreds of other utility workers from throughout the nation and from other countries. The line workers will test their professional and trade skills in the competition. Admission is free and open to the public. Craft fair planned at KCKCC to raise funds for scholarships
A craft fair is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in the Upper Jewell Building on the KCKCC main campus, 7250 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The craft fair will raise funds for high school students wishing to take dual and concurrent courses at the college. There is no admission charge to the craft fair, and the public may attend. Garage and bake sale planned

Renaissance Festival continues
The Kansas City Renaissance Festival continues on weekends through Oct. 14 at the festival grounds at 130th and State Avenue, Bonner Springs. The festival is a celebration of medieval life, with such activities as jousting, contests, a royal parade, music, entertainment and food. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $22.95 per adult, $13.95 for children 5-12, $20.25 for seniors and students, and free for children 4 and younger. Author to read and sign copies of her book Saturday
Local author Kneika Robbins will read and sign copies of her newly published picture book, “Dean the Dinosaur Goes to Kindergarten,” from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the story time craft room, West Wyandotte Library, 1737 N. 82nd St., Kansas City, Kansas. Those attending may enjoy snacks, listen to story time, and meet the author. Books will be available for purchase.
Halloween origami program offered
A Halloween origami program will be offered from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at the craft room, Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The classis for ages 8 to 18. There will be easy designs to create paper pumpkins, bats and ghosts.
Alcott Arts Center plans Second Saturday event

College theater production planned Saturday
The Kansas City Kansas Community College Theater Department will present the fall production, “Lobby Hero,” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the KCKCC Performing Arts Center, 7250 State Ave. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for non-KCKCC students and seniors (60+), and free for KCKCC students, faculty and staff.
