Church to hold garage sale and barbecue
Wyandotte United Methodist Church, 7901 Oakland, will hold a fall garage sale, United Methodist Women bake sale, and barbecue from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 20. Food available for lunch includes hamburgers, hot dogs and brats. Homemade baked goods will be available. There will be a variety of items for sale.

Democrats to meet Saturday
Wyandotte County Third Saturday Democratic Breakfast will meet Saturday, Sept. 20, in the Eisenhower Room at the Hilton Garden Inn, 520 Minnesota Ave. The speaker will be former state Sen. Jean Schodorf, Democratic candidate for Kansas secretary of state. The breakfast buffet will start at 8:15 a.m., and the forum begins at 9:15 a.m. The cost of the breakfast buffet is $10; or $7 for students and those on a limited income. All Democrats are invited.

First hike and bike trail on a KCK levee to open this Saturday
Mayor Mark Holland, in partnership with Healthy Communities Wyandotte, is inviting the community to attend the grand opening celebration of the Armourdale Hike and Bike Route – Island View Loop. The event will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, on the levee, just west of 18th Street Expressway and Kansas Avenue. The public is invited to attend the grand opening ceremony and walk on the new trail. The initial levee trail is a 1.3 mile trail with a surface sufficient for walking and running but may be challenging for road bicycles. The trail takes its name, “Island View Loop” from the river island that can be seen from the levee and from the Kansas Avenue Bridge.

Benefit Dice Run kicks off Saturday
The Dice Run benefiting Bonner Springs High School Project Grad will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 20. Registration is from 10 a.m. to noon. The event starts at Kobi’s in Bonner Springs. The registration fee is $25 per driver or $40 per driver and rider. Each paying driver and rider will receive a T-shirt. Vehicles of all kinds are welcome. Renaissance Festival continues on weekends

The Kansas City Renaissance Festival continues on Saturday and Sunday at the festival grounds at 628 N. 126th St. (126th and State), Bonner Springs. The festival is the re-creation of a 16th century English village. Music, food, crafts, shows and other entertainment are featured at the festival, which runs on weekends through Oct. 14. Church plans fiesta

Blessed Sacrament Church, 2203 Parallel, will have a parish fiesta from after the 4 p.m. Mass to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20. After a bilingual Mass at 4 p.m. there will be games, food, booths and entertainment.

Summer concert to be Sept. 20 at Legends
Dave and Buster’s Summer Concert Series will continue at 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, on the rooftop patio at The Legends Outlets. Rivertown will perform from 9 p.m. to close Sept. 6. Different bands will play on Saturdays through September.
