Back-to-school event planned
Parkwood Pool will hold a Back-to-School Bash from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at 950 Quindaro Blvd., Kansas City, Kansas. The event will include free backpacks, food and school supplies.
Turner Library to sponsor Maker Space Saturday
The Turner Community Library, 831 S. 55th, will hold a Maker Space Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 11. Sewing machines will be available for public use, along with a Cricut and glue guns, with a staff member present to help with instruction. Simple craft items will be available for children. Family Lego Club to meet
The Family Lego Club will offer an opportunity to build with Legos from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the West Wyandotte Library, craft room, 1737 N. 82nd St., Kansas City, Kansas. Legos are provided. The activity is for all ages.
Family story time planned
Family story time is offered from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, craft room, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Participants will read stories, dance and sing. This story time is geared toward children ages 2 to 6.
Craft program planned at Main Library
Children and teens may make marbled paper at a craft program from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, craft room, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Those attending will work with shaving cream and food coloring to create a patterned paper that can be used to make a greeting card, collage or art. All materials are provided. Wheelchair softball continues at T-Bones Stadium
The National Wheelchair Softball Association’s World Series is taking place through Aug. 11 at the T-Bones Stadium in Kansas City, Kansas. Fourteen teams from throughout the United States and Japan are competing in the three day-event. Touranment hosts include Midwest Adaptive Sports, The Kansas City Kansas Convention and Visitors Bureau, Kansas City Royals Wheelchair Softball, Per4Max and the Kansas City T-Bones Baseball Club. Three artists to have opening reception Saturday at Alcott Arts
Opening at Alcott Arts Center’s Second Saturday art exhibit on Aug. 11 will be shows by Sarah Jeanne Johnson, Lindsay Weaver and Larissa Shively-Vitt. A reception for the three artists will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at 180 S. 18th St., Kansas City, Kansas. The Alcott Arts Center gallery will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and the art show is free and open to the public. The artists will have artwork for sale.
