Bonner Springs Farmers’ Market continues
The Bonner Springs Farmers’ Market will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 2, at Kelly Murphy Park, 129 Elm, Bonner Springs. The farmers’ market is planned on Saturday mornings during the rest of the summer, through Oct. 27. For more information, see http://bonnerlibrary.org/.

Kansas City, Kansas, school board to meet Saturday morning
The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools Board of Education will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at the Central Office, third floor board room, 2010 N. 59th St., Kansas City, Kansas. The board will conduct regular business, receive a report from a three-member subcommittee on a self-study of the district’s administrative tier and discuss procedures for interviewing superintendent candidate. The board plans to view superintendent candidate videos in a closed executive session.

Fishing derby canceled
The Turner fishing derby originally scheduled for June 2 at Pierson Park was canceled because of inclement weather.

Levee Fest to be Saturday
Levee Fest, exploring the levee trails of Kansas City, Kansas, will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2. The event will include food and activities on the Armourdale Levee Trail. Summer Reading Program kick-off party to be Saturday in Bonner Springs
The Bonner Springs City Library’s Summer Reading Program begins with a launch party at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at the library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs. The party will feature the Kansas City Symphony Instrument Petting Zoo. There also will be snacks and crafts. The theme of the reading program, which runs through the end of July, is Rock and Read.

Rockfest to be Saturday at Kansas Speedway
Rockfest 2018 will be held Saturday, June 2, at the Kansas Speedway, at I-70 and I-435 in Kansas City, Kansas. Doors open at 11 a.m. with performances beginning at noon. Groups that were scheduled to appear include Powerman 5000, Hyborian, Sevendust, 10 Years, Red Sun Rising, Butcher Babies Stone Temple Pilots, I Prevail, Shaman’s Harvest, Miss May I, Underoath, Bad Wolves, Vince Neil, Ghost and Five Finger Death Punch, subject to change. S.T.E.A.M. storytime planned
The S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) storytime is planned from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The event includes stories, songs, science and art. This month’s theme is thanksgiving science. This event is geared toward children. Democratic candidates to appear at 3rd District forum Saturday
Democratic candidates for the U.S. House, 3rd District, are scheduled to appear at a forum from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at the Shawnee Mission Unitarian Universalist Church, 9400 Pflumm Road, Lenexa, Kansas. A meet-and-greet is at 1:15 p.m. Space is limited and those attending are asked to RSVP to http://swingleftks03.x10host.com/events/. The candidates are Sharice Davids, a lawyer and economic advisor; Mike McCamon, former tech and nonprofit executive; Tom Niermann, a high school history teacher; businessman Jay Sidie; labor lawyer Brent Welder and Sylvia Williams, a retired banker. Moderators for the forum are Gary Enrique Bradley-Lopez, vice chair of the Wyandotte County Young Democrats, and Helena Buchmann, executive committee member, Johnson County Democratic Party. Church plans fundraiser
St. John the Baptist Catholic parish, 708 N. 4th St., Kansas City, Kansas, plans a free Croatian Day fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 2. Croatian food, beverages and raffles will be available for a freewill donation. The event will include music by Hrvatski Obicaj.

T-Bones to play Saturday
The T-Bones will play the Wichita Wingnuts at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at T-Bones Stadium at 1800 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas. There will be a Camps 4 Kids post-game campout, and post-game fireworks.
