Turner Days to open with parade Saturday
A parade will open Turner Days events at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, with parade entries lining up near Turner High School, 2211 S. 55th St., Kansas City, Kansas. The parade will travel from the high school parking lot to 55th Street on Inland Drive. Afterward, events will be held at Steineger Field. Turner Days events include a breakfast, 5K run, Turner Walk of Fame inductees, a car show on Sunday, and entertainment by school groups. There is also a pumpkin decorating contest and a costume contest for preschool to second grade, and pumpkin chucking for older children. UG celebrates 20th anniversary of consolidation on Saturday
The Unified Government of Kansas City, Kansas, and Wyandotte County is celebrating its 20th anniversary Saturday afternoon with a free festival at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Called WyOneDotte festival, the event will include food, entertainment and activities for the public. It will be a free family event. The event is from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the ballpark at Village West, where the T-Bones play baseball. The festival will include prizes and giveaways. The event is free and open to the public. There are several sponsors. It will include music, free food, a bounce house, games, car show, mascots, face painting, and a bag toss. Lineman’s Rodeo to be Oct. 14 at Ag Hall

Renaissance Festival continues Saturday
The 41st annual Renaissance Festival will continue Saturday, Oct. 14, and will continue through Oct. 15, the last day of the festival season. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The festival site is located at 130th and State Avenue in Bonner Springs. For more information, visit www.kcrenfest.com.

American GI Forum to present program on Hispanic American history
The American GI Forum will present a program on Hispanic America history from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the South Branch Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The program is “Stand Up for Justice,” a film about internment camps during World War II.

Church plans fundraising dinner
Holy Family Catholic Church will hold a dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the parish cafeteria at 1007 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Kansas. The Holy Name Divas are sponsoring the dinner to raise funds for scholarships and for church remodeling. The meal will cost $7 and will include tacos and tostadas. There will be music by Stranded in the City.
