Recycling planned at the Bonner library
The Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs, is offering paper recycling from March 9 through 15. ProShred Security will have locked boxes at the library for the deposit of paper to be recycled. The recycling will be on the last day of the event. Also, electronics recycling will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at the Bonner Springs City Library. Surplus Exchange will be in the back parking lot to accept electronics to be recycled. It is a free service, except for microwave ovens, CRT screens, projection and tube televisions, and hard-drive cleaning, for which there are small fees payable to Surplus Exchange. Legislative forum planned March 11
A legislative forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters, NAACP, and librarians of Bonner Springs and Kansas City, Kan., is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. March 11 at the Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs. Sen Steve Fitzgerald, R-5th Dist., and Rep. Tom Burroughs, D-33rd Dist., are scheduled to appear. The forum is free and open to the public.

Coffee with pastors planned
Praise Chapel will hold a coffee with the KC pastors and chat with them on an individual basis at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at the South Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Taco dinner fundraiser to be Saturday
Holy Family Altar Society will hold a taco dinner and salami bingo at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 11, in the Monsignor Mejak Hall, 513 Ohio, Kansas City, Kansas. Dinner is from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m., with bingo following. A $15 donation will include a bingo card, a taco dinner and cold beverages. The event is for those 21 and older.

Schlagle to play in substate basketball state tournament championship game today

Sporting KC plans home opener Saturday in KCK against Dallas
Sporting Kansas City returns to state-of-the-art Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas, on Saturday to play host to FC Dallas in the club’s 2017 home opener. The Western Conference battle will kick off at 8 p.m. and a limited number of tickets, including standing-room only tickets, are available at SeatGeek.com. FOX Sports Kansas City will televise three hours of live coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. ESPN 99.3FM (English) and La Grande 1340 AM (Spanish) will also air live broadcasts. Comedian appears Saturday night at Stanford and Son’s
Todd Bridges is appearing on Saturday, March 11, at Stanford and Son’s Comedy Club at The Legends Outlets in Kansas City, Kan. Shows are at 7:45 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. The event is open to those 18 and older. Bridges appeared on television programs including “Diff’rent Strokes,” “The Facts of Life” and has appeared in films including “1210 Camille Street” and “The Climb.”
