Grinter Place plans Summer Fest Aug. 6
Grinter Place, 1400 S. 78th St., plans a Summer Fest from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, on the grounds of the historic museum. The event will include food, games and tours. Environmental action program for children
A program on environmental action will be presented from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Environmental Library, 4051 West Drive, at Wyandotte County Lake, 91st and Leavenworth Road. Children will learn about what they can do to help the planet through hands-on games and activities.The program is best for children 6 and older.
Learn how marbles are made
A marble-making demonstration is scheduled from about 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Moon Marble Co. store, 600 E. Front St., Bonner Springs. Craft program planned at library
An end-of-summer craft-fest will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the West Wyandotte Library auditorium, 1737 N. 82nd, Kansas City, Kan. The program is for teens and adults. Children who are 12 and younger will need adult assistance.
African-American Book Club to meet
An African-American Book Club will meet from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Main Kansas City, Kan., Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan. The club is reading “Forty Acres” by Dwayne Alexander Smith. The club will meet in the first floor program room of the library.
Cabela’s schedules fly-fishing class
Cabela’s, 10300 Cabela Drive, Kansas City, Kan., has scheduled a free fly-fishing class from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6. Interested persons may meet at the Cabela’s Fly Shop and the class will go to the outdoor pond. The class is for beginners and experienced anglers.
