The International MotorSports Association made its debut at Kansas Speedway Friday for practice and qualifying sessions.
Chris Cumming won the pole for the Tudor United SportsCar Championship Prototype Challenge (PC) race Saturday at 4:15 p.m. Cumming, who drives for RSR Racing, will race in the first 45-minute segment while co-driver Alex Tagliani will run the second 45 minute race.
“The car the guys gave me was fantastic,” Cumming said.
Craig Duerson with Performance Tech Motorsports won the pole for the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites race that starts at 4:15 p.m. Saturday.
Rebel Rock Racing’s Corey Lewis qualified the team’s Porsche Cayman on the pole in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Street Tuner (ST) class for Saturday’s race, which begins at 6:15 p.m. The pole is Lewis’ first in just his fourth career start in the series. Rebel Rock Racing is owned by Grammy Award winning producer Jim Jonsin.
“It’s an amazing feeling, just a cool feeling,” Lewis said. “The draft was really important tonight. Kansas is well suited for the (Porsche) Caymans.”
TRG-AMR’s Kris Wilson qualified the team’s Aston Martin on the pole for the Continental Tire Challenge Grand Sport (GS) class for Saturday’s race. For the GS class, six different makes qualified in the top six positions.
Tickets are currently on sale for Saturday’s IMSA races, the Oct. 3 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, the Oct. 4 Kansas Lottery 300 (NASCAR Nationwide Series) and the Oct. 5 Hollywood Casino 400, the fourth race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Parking is free at Kansas Speedway and fans can bring in one 14x14x14-inch soft-sided cooler with their favorite food and beverages.
