RideKC will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new 118 18th Street Route at 10 a.m. Jan. 8. in front of Fast Fred’s Supermarket at 1806 N. 18th St. to celebrate the first new transit service operated by the Unified Government in more than 10 years.
The route started Jan. 2, 2019 and is the first all-day route from Kansas City, Kansas, to Johnson County, Kansas. It gets passengers from Quindaro Boulevard to 51st Street in Roeland Park in under 25 minutes. The bus runs hourly, every weekday from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
“This historic new route is the result of a strong RideKC partnership committed to connecting people to opportunities,” said Robbie Makinen, KCATA CEO. “For the first time in over a decade, thousands of people along the route will now have fast, frequent and efficient access to jobs.”
The new route will affect more than 14,000 people who live within a quarter-mile of the route and will be a transit option for more than 5,000 thousand jobs located within a quarter-mile of the route.
