Revenues were down from March to April for all state-owned casinos, according to figures from the Kansas Lottery.
The revenues were up significantly, however, when April 2015 was compared to April 2014 at Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway, lottery officials said today.
The April 2015 revenues were $12,517,746 at Hollywood Casino, an increase of 12.3 percent over April of 2014, said Keith Kocher, director of program assurance and integrity for the Kansas Lottery.
He said Hollywood Casino has continued to chip away at the market share, gradually increasing its revenues.
In a written report to the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission, Hollywood Casino’s Bob Sheldon, vice president and general manager, stated that the April 2015 gaming revenue was an increase of $1.4 million from April 2014.
Sheldon reported that the casino had a number of promotional offers and restaurant specials during the month. It also had a $25,000 Lights, Camera, Cash promotion with a grand prize cash drawing. Also, when Kansas State University played its purple-and-white football scrimmage game at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan., during April, it generated a good amount of casino visits from fans before and after the game, Sheldon reported.
The March gaming revenues at Hollywood Casino were reported as $12,734,911, according to Kansas Lottery figures.
The other state-owned casinos in Kansas reported mixed results for April. Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, Kan., reported total gross gaming revenue up 3.2 percent from April 2014. Boot Hill Casino in Dodge City, Kan., reported a slight decrease in total gaming, minus 0.66 percent, compared to April 2014.
