Residents gathered at El Centro, 650 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, tonight to renew an effort to bring a municipal identification card program to Wyandotte County.

The effort was sponsored by the ACLU.

Promoters of the municipal ID card hope that it will allow more persons who live within the city and county to receive services. They hope that the local government, health care, and other services would accept the card.

From 60 to 65 persons participated in tonight’s program. About 15 persons went out into the neighborhoods to ask for support for the program.

The campaign will send electronic postcards to Kansas City, Kansas, Mayor David Alvey asking him and the Unified Government to support the effort.
