Renovations are planned at the Kansas City, Kansas, animal shelter during February.
According to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department, the front office and kennel areas will see extensive renovations. The building is scheduled to reopen on March 2.
During renovations, animals may be reclaimed and entry into the building will be through the side entrance, the spokesman said. Signs will direct visitors to the entrance.
Adoptions will be moved to Olathe and KCK PetSmart locations on Saturdays, according to the spokesman. There will not be in-shelter adoptions during the renovations.
The animal shelter will be getting LED lighting, energy-efficient windows, venting and ductwork, new floords and furniture, according to the spokesman.
The renovations will provide a much needed overhaul that will provide a more welcoming environment to visitors as the shelter continues to increase adoptions, the spokesman said.
