Dry conditions and low humidity today means there is a danger of fire, according to the National Weather Service.
A red flag warning has been issued for noon today to 7 p.m. tonight in Wyandotte County and surrounding counties because of the dry conditions and winds around 20 mph, the National Weather Service said.
Already this morning, some wildfires have been reported along I-435 in Missouri, according to KC Scout.
Temperatures will rise into the mid-70s today, relative humidity will drop to 20 to 25 percent, and south-southwesterly winds will increase to 18 to 23 mph, gusting up to the 30s mph, the weather service said.
These conditions, coupled with dry fuels, will cause high fire danger, according to the weather service.
Outdoor burning is extremely discouraged and any fires that ignite will quickly burn out of control, the weather service stated.
Today’s forecast is sunny with a high near 76, and a south southwest wind of 11 to 16 mph increasing to 18 to 23 mph in the afternoon, according to the weather service. Winds could gust as high as 38 mph, the weather service said.
Tonight, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 59, and a south wind of 14 to 16 mph with gusts as high as 24 mph, according to the weather service.
Tuesday, expect isolated showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m., the weather service said. It will be mostly sunny with a high near 78, according to the weather service. A south wind of 16 to 21 mph will guest as high as 29 mph. The chance of rain is 20 percent.
Tuesday night’s low will be around 61, with a south wind of 14 mph, gusting as high as 21 mph, according to the weather service.
On Wednesday, the high will be near 76 with partly sunny skies, the weather service said. A south southwest wind of 8 to 11 mph will change to the west in the afternoon.
Wednesday night’s low will be around 59, according to the weather service.
On Thursday, the high will be near 73 with partly sunny skies. Thursday night, there will be a 30 percent chance of showers, with a low of 59, the weather service said.
On Friday, the chance of showers is 60 percent, with a high near 72, according to the weather service. Friday night, the low will be around 57 with a 50 percent chance of showers, the weather service said.
