Ramp and lane closures are scheduled Wednesday, June 10, in Wyandotte County, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Traffic on the projects will be diverted using mobile lane closures, signs and traffic cones, according to a KDOT spokesman.
Closures are planned for new bridge girder unloading for the Lewis and Clark Viaduct Bridge project on eastbound I-70.
There will be intermittent lane and ramp closures on eastbound I-70. Bridge girders will be unloaded onto a trestle in the Missouri River. Each closure may last 15 to 20 minutes. Work will occur on Wednesday, June 10,and Friday, June 12, the spokesman stated.
Two girders will be placed each day from about 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting, according to the spokesman.
Traffic will be stopped on eastbound I-70 and several on-ramps to unload each girder.
The ramps that will be temporarily closed are Fairfax Trafficway to eastbound I-70, Washington Boulevard, Minnesota Avenue and eastbound I-70.
According to the spokesman, traffic will be controlled using construction trucks and digital message boards. An additional two days will be scheduled to finish unloading bridge girders, at a later date. Travelers should expect delays and find alternative routes, the spokesman stated.
For grading work, the closures include:
Ramps that will close from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 10:
• Southbound Turner Diagonal to westbound I-70,
• Northbound Turner Diagonal to westbound I-70,
• Eastbound I-70 to northbound Turner Diagonal,
