Numerous ramps and lanes are scheduled to be closed in Wyandotte County from the weekend to Friday, May 22, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Traffic on all these projects will be diverted using mobile lane closures, signs and traffic cones, according to a spokesman.
For pavement grinding and road sealing, closures include:
• The two right lanes on northbound and southbound I-635 from 48th Street to K-32,
• The on-off ramps on northbound I-635 from eastbound and westbound State Avenue,
• The ramps from northbound and southbound I-635 to westbound and eastbound I-70,
• The on-off ramps at northbound and southbound I-635 to K-32,
• The on-off ramps at westbound and eastbound I-70 to 38th Street.
Lanes will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. May 18 to May 22. Ramps will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 18 to May 22.
For grading work, the closures include:
• The ramp from eastbound I-70 to southbound Turner Diagonal.
• The ramp will be closed May 18, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• The ramp from southbound Turner Diagonal to westbound I-70.
• The ramp will be closed on May 18 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For bridge maintenance, the shoulder closure includes:
• Northbound and southbound I-435 at the Missouri River.
• The shoulder will be closed, May 18 to May 22, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The spokesman stated that KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone.
