Rain and storms moved through Wyandotte County this morning.
While most of this storm has moved on, strong to possibly severe thunderstorms could develop near Kansas City this afternoon and grow into a line of storms as they track toward the Ozarks this evening, the National Weather Service said.
These storms may be strong to severe with large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes, the weather service said.
Today’s high will be near 87, while tonight’s low will be 69, according to the weather service.
Widespread heavy rain is possible this evening particularly from areas just east of the Kansas City metropolitan area into central Missouri, where a flash flood watch is in effect, the weather service said.
Occasional storm chances will persist into Friday with lower chances over the holiday weekend, the weather service said. At this time it’s too early to determine if any of these storms may be strong or produce flooding, according to the weather service.
While there is a 30 percent chance of rain in the Friday forecast, at this time, there is no rain forecast for the Fourth of July forecast. On Saturday, July 4, the temperature will reach a high near 83 with mostly sunny skies, according to the weather service. Saturday night, the skies will be partly cloudy with a low of 69, the weather service said.
