Isolated thunder is expected Saturday afternoon and evening, and a few strong storms are possible, the weather service said. The strongest storms will be to the southeast of the Kansas City area, according to the weather service.
The forecast calls for rain, not snow, in Wyandotte County for Saturday and Sunday.
Today, it will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 45 and an east wind of 5 to 7 mph, the weather service said.
Tonight, there is a 70 percent chance of rain, mainly after 4 a.m., according to the weather service. The temperature will rise to around 48 by 5 a.m. There is an east southeast wind of 7 to 10 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is in the forecast.
Saturday, there is a 100 percent chance of rain, with thunderstorms also possible after noon, the weather service said. The high will be near 61 with a south southeast wind of 11 to 16 mph, gusting as high as 25 mph. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is predicted.
Saturday night, there is an 80 percent chance of rain before midnight, with a low of 38, according to the weather service. A south wind of 6 to 9 mph will become west in the evening. Winds may gust as high as 21 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.
Sunday, there is a 20 percent chance of rain after noon, with a high near 42, the weather service said. A west wind of 7 to 10 mph will gust as high as 22 mph.
