Rain, freezing rain in today’s forecast

Areas of sleet and light freezing rain are expected this morning in the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Air and pavement temperatures are near freezing, so it may take a moderate to heavy precipitation rate to cause travel issues, the weather service said.

It was about 34 degrees around 9 a.m. in Wyandotte County. Today’s high will be about 39, the weather service said.

Temperatures will continue to climb, transitioning wintry precipitation to all rain by mid- to late-morning, the weather service said.

Tonight, rain is likely after midnight, according to the weather service, with a low of 36. The chance of rain is 60 percent.

Thursday, there is a 70 percent chance of rain, with a high of 42, according to the weather service.

Light snow is possible Saturday morning through the early afternoon, according to the weather service.
