Rain expected Friday through Sunday

Several rounds of rain are expected Friday through Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Off-and-on showers are expected Friday and Saturday, the weather service said. The heaviest precipitation is expected Sunday.

Most areas could see 2-3 inches of rain over the next three days, according to the weather service.

A flood watch is in effect for some areas south of I-70 from 6 a.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Sunday, the weather service said. Saturated soils especially could see flooding and substantial runoff, according to the weather service.

Today, there is a 90 percent chance of rain, mainly between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., then showers after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 50 with an east wind of 14 mph, gusting as high as 18 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Tonight, there is an 80 percent chance of showers, mainly before midnight, with a low of 43, according to the weather service. An east wind of 10 to 14 mph will gust as high as 18 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is likely.

Saturday, there is a 70 percent chance of showers, with a high near 55, the weather service said. An east wind of 13 to 15 mph will gust as high as 21 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Saturday night, there is an 80 percent chance of shows and possibly a thunderstorm, then showers after midnight, according to the weather service. The low will be around 49 with an east wind of 13 to 15 mph, gusting as high as 22 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is like, with higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday, there is a 90 percent chance of showers with thunderstorms also possible after noon, the weather service said. The high will be near 55 with an east wind of 14 to 17 mph, gusting as high as 28 mph. Between three-quarters and one inch of rain is possible.

Sunday night, there is a 70 percent chance of showers, mainly before midnight, with a low of 44, according to the weather service. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

Monday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers, with a high near 57, the weather service said.

Monday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 39, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 55, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 36, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 52, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers, with a low of 34, according to the weather service.

Thursday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 47, the weather service said.
