Rain chances continue today and through Friday

From 1 to 3 inches of rain has fallen in some places across the Kansas City region this morning.

The rainfall could cause flooding and flash flooding in some areas today, according to the National Weather Service.

Cooler temperatures will follow the rain, with high temperatures in the lower 80s for the rest of the week, the weather service said. Winds are expected to stay between 5 and 10 mph Monday through Tuesday.

Today, there is an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, the weather service said. The high will be near 80 with a north northeast wind of 3 to 5 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is in the forecast.

Tonight, there is a 10 percent chance of showers before 7 p.m., with a low around 68, according to the weather service. A northeast wind of 5 mph will become calm in the evening.

Tuesday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 88 and a southeast wind of 3 to 8 mph, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m., with a low of 70, according to the weather service. A southeast wind of 5 mph will become calm in the evening.

Wednesday, there is a 60 percent chance of showers, then possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m., according to the weather service. The high will be near 85 with a light south wind. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is forecast.

Wednesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 69. A half to three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

Thursday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 84.

Thursday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 66.

Friday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 80, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 64, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 80, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 62, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be sunny, with a high near 82, the weather service said.
