The public is being asked to help locate a man who escaped from custody on Tuesday, May 12.
Ted W. Taylor, 29, was charged with escaping from custody on May 12, and bond was set at $75,000.
He had been in the adult detention center and was checked out of the jail by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department, according to a spokesman for the district attorney’s office.
The spokesman said the Police Department was conducting a separate unrelated investigation and Taylor was assisting them. While in police custody, Taylor escaped, the spokesman said.
Taylor had been in jail on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and criminal discharge of a firearm filed on Saturday, May 9. Bond in that case had been set at $35,000.
The spokesman for the district attorney stated that Taylor’s whereabouts are unknown and he should be considered dangerous. Anyone who knows of or has knowledge of his location should call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS, the spokesman said.
