Wyandotte County positive COVID-19 cases went up 141 from 1 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday, according to figures from the Unified Government COVID-19 webpage.
Cases were reported at 2,939 on Saturday afternoon, an increase of 141 from Friday afternoon. There were no new deaths, as that total number remained the same, 87.
Piper school district reports athlete tests positive for COVID-19
The Piper school district has notified students and residents that a student-athlete has tested positive for COVID-19.
According to an announcement posted on the Piper school district website, the athlete is doing well, and had stopped going to activities more than a week ago when symptoms first appeared.
According to the district, precautionary measures were taken with athletes who were in direct contact with the student. The team did not have any connections with other activities.
Testing offered
Testing is offered at the UG Health Department parking lot, 6th and Ann, on Mondays through Fridays. New hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. The free tests are for those who live and work in Wyandotte County, and who have symptoms or who have been exposed to COVID_19.
There are also pop-up tests available during the week through the Health Equity Task Force.
Wyandotte County is currently under the governor’s mask order and is under the Phase 3 of the state’s Ad Astra reopening plan.
