Robbery reported at store on State Avenue
An aggravated robbery was reported at 8 p.m. Jan. 9 in the 3700 block of State Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
A suspect entered the store, walked behind the cashier’s area, removed the cash drawer of the register and began to walk out of the cashier’s area, according to the report.
When the victim asked what he was doing, the suspect lifted up his shirt and brandished a weapon, the report stated. The victim was afraid, according to the report.
The suspect then left the store with the cash box and fled in a red sport utility vehicle that appeared to be a Honda CRV or Honda Pilot, the report stated. Detectives responded.
About 8:13 p.m. in the 1700 block of North 38th Street, there was a foot pursuit, according to police.
Based on a description of the suspect in the robbery, officers located a person that appeared to match the general description. When the officer tried to make contact, the individual fled on foot and a brief foot pursuit, approved by supervisors, was initiated, according to the report. The officer ended the pursuit without making contact.
KCK police assist in pursuing vehicle involved in kidnapping
Kansas City, Kansas, police assisted Kansas City, Missouri, police officers with a vehicle pursuit that crossed into the city from Kansas City, Missouri, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
The vehicle was reported to be involved in a kidnapping, and the victim was in the vehicle, according to the report.
After crossing into Kansas City, Kansas, the vehicle went in the direction of a Kansas City, Kansas, police officer near 29th and Wood, the report stated. He was given permission to become involved in the pursuit.
The pursuit traveled to 12th and Ohio, where the vehicle stopped and the suspects tried to flee, according to the report.
They were apprehended and taken to the detective bureau to be interviewed by Kansas City, Missouri, detectives, the report stated. The subjects were awaiting kidnapping charges from Kansas City, Missouri, according to the report. No accidents or injuries occurred in the pursuit.
