Shots fired on Edgehill Avenue


Officers responded to a call about shots that were fired around 1:22 a.m. Nov. 1 in the 7500 block of Edgehill Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

When officers approached, the suspect fled, according to the report. Officers received permission for a foot pursuit and were able to apprehend the suspect a short distance away, according to the report. Edgehill is close to 75th and K-32.

The suspect had a handgun, a full magazine and a partially expended extended magazine as well as alcohol, according to the report. The suspect was prohibited from possession of a firearm because of previous felony convictions and had been charged as recently as June of this year, according to the report. The suspect was taken into custody.

Victim robbed while in vehicle

A victim told police as she was sleeping in her vehicle around 3:30 a.m. Nov. 1 in the 4200 block of Kansas Avenue, an unknown suspect opened the passenger door and demanded she give him her property while gesturing to his waistband like he had a gun, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The victim gave the suspect two phones, the report stated. Then the suspect got into the back of her vehicle and advised if she didn’t give him money he would shoot her, the report stated. She gave him $2 and the keys to her vehicle, according to the report.
