Burglary reported on Kansas Avenue
An unknown suspect used a large truck to ram a business garage door at 5:28 a.m. Aug. 28 in the 6200 block of Kansas Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
The suspect then stole a white pickup truck that was being stored, the report stated. Crime scene investigators responded.
Business burglarized on Leavenworth Road
A commercial burglary was reported at 2:38 p.m. Aug. 28 at 5545 Leavenworth Road, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
According to the report, an unknown suspect entered the business and took approximately $1,700 from a safe. Video surveillance was recovered, the report stated.
Shooting reported on Park Drive
A shooting was reported in the 2300 block of Park Drive about 9 p.m. Aug. 28, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
The victim said he was returning home from work when he exited to 38th Street from I-70. A vehicle was behind him and started shooting at him while he was driving eastbound on Park Drive, according to the report.
While the suspect was shooting on Park Drive, one round struck a residence in the 3200 block of Ford Avenue, according to the report.
The suspect’s and victim’s vehicles continued to travel eastbound, the report stated. At 23rd and Park Drive, the suspect vehicle once again shot at the victim’s vehicle, this time striking another vehicle that was trying to park, the report stated. Then the suspect drove away. Detectives and crime scene investigators responded.
Man robbed of bag of groceries at gunpoint on 8th Street
An armed robbery was reported at 11:35 p.m. Aug. 28 in the 1100 block of North 8th Street, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
The victim said that while walking home from work, a group of people asked him for a bag of food he was carrying, according to the report. When he refused to give up the food, the suspect pulled a handgun on him and demanded the food, according to the report.
He gave up the food, and then the suspect and group left, the report stated. Detectives were notified, the report stated.
