Police investigating possible identity theft at Village West
Officers were dispatched to a business at 5:13 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, in the 1600 block of Village West Parkway to investigate possible identity theft.
Two persons had been detained by security after receiving merchandise that was paid for online, according to a social media report by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department. The items had not been authorized by the card holder, according to the report.
The suspect used a paper identification with the victim’s information and then signed the victim’s name to receive the merchandise, the report stated.
Additional credit cards not belonging to the individual who went to the store were also in his possession, the report stated. The person was taken into custody and booked into the Wyandotte County Jail, police stated.
Follow-up work is planned to locate potential victims, according to the report.
