Police investigating pedestrian death linked to disturbance at Wyandotte Plaza

A pedestrian died after a disturbance around 11:40 a.m. Saturday at Wyandotte Plaza, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department spokesman.

Police officers responded to a shots fired call on Saturday morning.

Officers found that two individuals were involved in a physical altercation inside a retail store at Wyandotte Plaza in the 7700 block of State Avenue, according to the spokesman.

Once the individuals left the store and went to their vehicles, one of the individuals began shooting at the other, the police spokesman stated.

While attempting to leave the parking lot, one of the individuals struck a parked vehicle, police said. The parked vehicle then struck a pedestrian who was not involved in the altercation, according to police.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries, police stated.

Officers took the driver into custody at the scene, the spokesman stated.
