Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department detectives are investigating a homicide Thursday in the 1400 block of North 8th Street.
Officers were dispatched to the location at 9:40 a.m. Thursday to assist the Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department and EMS on a medical call about a female in respiratory arrest, according to a spokesman.
When they arrived, officers were advised that the individual was located inside the home with an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, the police spokesman stated.
The victim was identified as Ashley Jones, 37, a Kansas City, Kansas, resident, according to the spokesman.
There is no suspect information available at this time and no arrests have been made, the spokesman stated.
It is the 19th homicide so far this year, according to police. Last year there were 28 homicides as of this date.
