Kansas City, Kan., police were investigating a shooting at about 12:17 p.m. Sept. 1 in the 4400 block of Shawnee Drive.
When they arrived, police officers found a man in his 40s who was armed with a handgun, a police spokesman said.
The man said he observed his stolen vehicle, a Chevy pickup, parked at the gas pumps.
The man then tried to make a citizen’s arrest of the person driving his truck, but other persons there attempted to stop the victim from recovering his truck, the police spokesman said.
Because of the action of the suspects, shots were fired by the victim, but no one was injured by the gunfire, according to the police spokesman. A person of interest was taken into custody, the spokesman said.
The incident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, which is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
