Kansas City, Kan., police are investigating a shooting death at 4:06 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, in the 3300 block of Delavan Avenue.
Officers were told that a dark-colored sport utility vehicle circled the block several times before firing shots at three people standing outside a residence, a police spokesman said.
A 22-year-old man was struck by the gunfire and died from his injuries about 6:30 a.m. at a hospital, the police spokesman said.
The victim exchanged gunfire with those in the SUV, according to police.
Identification of the victim will be available once the family is notified, the spokesman said.
The incident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, which is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
