Domestic battery reported

Aggravated domestic battery was reported at 3:27 a.m. Jan. 3, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The victim told police that a suspect jumped on the victim and started choking the victim. The victim could not breathe for about 3 to 5 seconds, according to the report.

Police stated that the suspect was taken into custody, and the victim declined medical treatment.

Sexual battery and attempted rape reported

Sexual battery, domestic battery and attempted rape was reported at 7:40 p.m. Jan. 2, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department. According to the victim, a suspect grabbed the victim’s clothing, ripped it, pulled it off and then demanded sex.

The suspect and victim got into a fight and the suspect hit the victim in the head with a frying pan, according to the report. The victim got away, and the suspect fled the scene, according to the report. The victim was transported to a safe place, the report stated.

Officer pursues vehicle on Kansas Avenue

Officers tried to stop a vehicle for traffic violations at 8:04 p.m. Jan. 2 in the 7200 block of Kansas Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The vehicle failed to stop, and the officer pursued it, the report stated. The officer later ended in pursuit, and the suspect was not apprehended, according to the report.

Shooting reported on North 59th


A shooting into an occupied dwelling was reported at 8:48 p.m. Jan. 2 in the 3300 block of North 59th Street, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

Officers responded to a call, and when they arrived at the scene, officers found an empty casing in the area, the report stated.

A victim stated that the house was hit by gunfire during the incident, according to the report.
