A repeal of the ban on pit bulls is on the agenda for Thursday night’s Unified Government Commission meeting.
The repeal was passed unanimously on May 20 by the UG’s Public Works and Safety Standing Committee, and goes before the full commission at 7 p.m. on May 30.
Other items on the agenda include an amendment requiring a special use permit for new small box variety stores; an ordinance modifying regulations for vending machines and exterior sales; and a continuation of a special use permit to temporarily store motor vehicles in the parking lot at The Woodlands at 9700 Leavenworth Road.
The planning commission has recommended the small box variety store amendment be withdrawn and instead become part of the zoning code rewrite.
Also on the agenda are several planning and zoning items.
The items include:

• 4229 Swartz Road, special use permit for an animal shelter for up to 20 adult dogs, Heather L. Hauck with Rescue Me KC, recommended for denial.
• 1600 N. 21st St., special use permit for Air BNB, Villa Mulondayi.
• 4521 Cambridge St., renewal of special use permit for Air BNB.
• 840 Shawnee Road, renewal of a special use permit for a miniature horse.
• 3704 N. 99th St., special use permit for a commercial shop selling handmade items, gifts and antiques in a basement garage, Roberta Laird.
• 151 S. 18th St., renewal of a special use permit for live entertainment in conjunction with an existing restaurant, Dick Bryant with Richard T. Bryant and Associates.
