A person has been taken into custody in connection with a threat made to an area high school, according to area police.
Parents had notified officials about a social media threat made to Harmon High School, according to police.
After the police were notified, an investigation was launched, and plans were made on how to ensure the safety of students at school Friday, according to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools Police Department and the Knsas City, Kansas, Police Department.
In a statement on Friday, police said that safety of the schools and community was a priority and any posts that are threatening or perceived as bullying on any social media platform are taken seriously.
Police asked parents to observe and be aware of their children’s online activity, according to the spokesman.
