A pedestrian death was reported Dec. 5 on I-70 near the Turner Diagonal, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.
According to the trooper’s report, the accident happened at 11:20 p.m. Dec. 5 on westbound I-70. The area is near 70th-72nd in Kansas City, Kansas.
Vernon Alvin Long, 49, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, was killed in the accident, according to the trooper’s report.
The trooper’s report stated that a Chevy Equinox was traveling westbound when it struck a pedestrian who attempted to cross the road to the north from the median.
The driver of the Equinox was a 21-year-old woman from Basehor, Kansas, who was not injured, according to the trooper’s report.
