The Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science will hold a spring recruiting session at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at the Bonner Springs Public Library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs.
Kansas high school sophomores are invited to attend the free information session.
Students who complete the Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science receive a high school diploma from their high school and receive a minimum of 68 hours college credit from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kan.
Tuition, fees and books for 68 credit hours are free for students attending a Kansas public high school.

Sporting Kansas City now a lottery scratch game
The Kansas Lottery today launched a new $2 instant scratch game called Sporting Kansas City.
“We’re excited to partner with the Sporting Kansas City organization on this new game,” said Kansas Lottery Executive Director Terry Presta. “We think our players will really enjoy a chance to win a VIP Soccer experience, as well as numerous cash prizes.”
Players can win up to $10,000 instantly playing Sporting Kansas City scratchers. There are six top prizes of $10,000 in the game, along with 30 $500 prizes, 60 $200 prizes and thousands of other smaller cash prizes.
Those who don’t win instantly may enter a second-chance drawing for a chance to win a VIP Soccer Experience Prize Package for the 2015 season. The grand prize package, valued at approximately $22,000, includes:
• Four 2015 season tickets with two VIP parking passes, including hospitality
• “VIP Dinner with Sporting Kansas City,” including a photo and autograph session, plus photo with the 2013 MLS Cup
• Sporting Kansas City memorabilia (autographed jersey and soccer ball)
• Honorary coin toss and game ball presentation at a predetermined game
• Behind-the-scenes tour of Sporting Park at a predetermined game
• Post-game press conference for four people at a predetermined game
• $500 cash
For a chance to win the grand prize, players may enter non-winning $2 Sporting Kansas City tickets online through the Kansas Lottery Players Club. The deadline to enter is noon on Sept. 23. The winner will be announced Sept. 26.
Women’s Chamber to present social media program April 24
The Kansas City, Kan., Women’s Chamber of Commerce will present a seminar on social media April 24.
The seminar will be held Thursday, April 24, at Dave and Buster’s, 1843 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kan.
The event starts with registration at 11 a.m., followed by lunch at 11:30 a.m. and the program at 11:45 a.m.
Geared toward small businesses and entrepreneurs who are new to social media, the seminar will include information at social media platforms, how to professionally present a business online, what to do and not to do, and how to stay current on social media trends.
The featured speakers will be Mary A. Redmond, a professional speaker, negotiations coach and consultant who has been blogging since 2009; Pat Brune, retired from the federal courts and now part of MelKat Creative Consult, which provides social media training to nonprofits; and Joy Richardson, senior director of resource development and community impact for United Way of Wyandotte County, who volunteers as a Facebook administrator for several organizations.
