Overnight standoff ends with suspect in murder case in custody

A standoff that lasted several hours in the 900 block of Kansas Avenue is now over, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, police spokesman.

Emenencio C. Lansdown, who has been charged with the second-degree murder of Casey Eaton, fired gunshots at officers in the 900 block of Kansas Avenue overnight and a standoff ensued for several hours, according to a police spokesman.

Officers with the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Violent Crimes Task Force and the U.S. Marshals made contact with Lansdown about 1:26 a.m. Sunday, April 23, in the 900 block of Kansas Avenue. He fired gunshots at the officers, who then set up a perimeter around the home, and negotiations were started, the spokesman stated.

At about 6:50 a.m. Sunday, negotiators convinced Lansdown to come out of the home and he was taken into custody without incident, the spokesman said.
